The Etymology of Family Through Sociological Perspective

The notion of family as the form of people’s relationships took its root in the ancient time. Family has become the part of our life since then, but the importance of its study is still essential. Such a form of social relations keeps much attention among scholars. The aim of this paper is to contribute to general social perspective on the family and introduce a brief analysis of family’s origin, its history and structure.

I start my paper with the very definition of the family. Thus, family is form of social behaviour, then more than one people live together in a residence usually, but not necessarily such relations are legalized. The family can be organized because of marriage of two persons or then people of the same bloodline live together.

I. Historical background

The history of the family started in ancient times, when people lived in tribes. A tribe is a predecessor of a contemporary family. People under the circumstances urging them to hunt in order to find some food and protect themselves from wild animals started to unite in a certain groups. Within this certain group the household was elected during the common gatherings, usually it was a very old and wise man. Hence, the tribes had a certain structure. There was a clear division of those, who hunt and those who protect the settlement, and those who were responsible for the organization and general order. Thus, the study of primitive history gives us a general understanding of the society organization and reveals its conditions of living. The common principle of living was the polygamy. There was not a clear bloodline, and children were therefore considered common to all members of the tribe.

It is worth noticed that the polygamy also lied in the fact that sexual relations were primitive. The belonging to the same bloodline relations did not form a family. When nowadays the family system is based mainly on blood relations or marriage and exclusiveness, the so-called families in ancient times with free sexual intercourse or polygamy, came into being almost spontaneously. The family ties in this structure could be loosened and the individual could become free again. However, this rarely happened on the person’s own will and is considered expulsion. Thus, more or less organized societies among barbarians can be found, however, precisely because the individual is not merged in the family.

Therefore, unrestricted sexual freedom prevailed within the tribe. It is generally considered that every woman belonged equally to every man and every man to every woman, though it is difficult to trace the ancient relationships. However, it should be noticed that sexual polygamy does not mean what is understood by prostitution in the modern society. More likely under the sexual intercourse namely group marriage was understood.

Nevertheless, other scholars deny the primitive social stage of such promiscuity. Indeed, it is such a remote epoch that we can hardly prove the existence of polygamy directly by discovering its social fossils among backward savages. The assertions of the monogamous habits are cited by Westermarck. But for sure there is plenty of promiscuity evidence in the later stages of human existence.

The unrestricted sexual relations dominated when the institute of family was rooted in the society. However, it did not resemble the tribe structure, certain sexual freedom in relations. To give but few examples, many historical and fiction literature evidences the sexual freedom existed during the 16th and 17th centuries. Since the eighteenth century such primitive relations were not the common and prevailed only in some phases of human developments.

To Love The Arts

I love art in many forms because I relate so intimately with many of the fundamental elements of creating an artistic masterpiece. Specifically, I’m referring to such key characteristics as inspiration, technique mastery and the fulfillment achieved and enjoyed upon completing a piece to one’s satisfaction, among others. I also have a preference for that which is quick and easy. But, ? Now that’s an oxymoron if ever there was one! Still, those who have mastered what they do, certainly do make what they do, look easy.

There are so many and creations around the world. What does this mean to you? Perhaps it is contemporary paintings or canvas paintings, pop art or clip art, fine art prints or wildlife posters. Can you measure an art work? No, because there is no consensus definition for the term artistic or creative. We all develop our own definition for these terms. Basically, it is one’s personal reaction toward a particular creation. Each of us has our individual perspective for such terms. What one person likes and feels about a type of art in general or a specific piece in particular may be disliked by another. And that’s okay. What I like most about any art form is what I like to term easy art.

Augustine’s philosophy of friendship

Augustine theological work highly influenced western Christianity and he is said to be one of the most influential theologists in Roman Empire. In his theological career, he extensively campaigned against two philosophies in particular. First it was Manichaeism which was a philosophy that claimed that evil and good are the two transcendent forces which are the results of human behaviors. Augustine ruled out the part of evil and he argued that every thing that is created by God is good. In this regard, he argued that evil is not a transcendent created by God hence cannot exist on its own right. Basing on this, he argued that world can be explained from a point of view that every thing is created by only one good creator hence evil is a creation of human nature. Secondly, was philosophy of palegianism which stressed the man’s capacity of achieving righteousness by himself without divine intervention. He contested this and argued that righteousness is given by God. Among his philosophical works he wrote about friendship in Christian perspective. As a theologist, he differed with other philosophers at some point on true friendship. He was categorical that, only that friendship that comes from God is valid. He derived his argument both from philosophical and religious perspective.

Augustine believed that, the most valued things to human beings in the world are friendship and healthy living. He argued that, God created human beings to exist not in solitary but with a certain degree of friendship. In his life, Augustine lived by his words and beliefs that friendship is a major essential in life. Rarely could Augustine be in solitary status and he spent all his life with friends. One of the most values that were attached with friendship in Augustine life was that it was the avenue through which he acquired knowledge.  Friends inspired and brainstormed each others thoughts. They constantly shared ideas and information with his friends a fact that made Augustine to develop his knowledge. Nebridus and Alpiuus who were close friends of Augustine were great inspirations to the Augustine’s’ life. Both were childhood friends who provided him with the knowledge of how he could survive without employment as well as moral guidance. His friends helped him very much to grow in the field of philosophy. Through philosophical arguments they would agree at a point on the strongest argument. Although most of the times he could overwhelm them, Augustine learned a lot from his friends. For instance, in his book the “city of God”, Augustine confesses that, it was his friend Nebridius who convinced him to give up in philosophy of Manichean and astrology. Friendship in Augustine’s life was a major link to knowledge and morality.

There are different vocal training techniques, depending on the kind of music you would like to learn – classical, pop or anything else – and depending too on the singing instructor or vocal coach you chose. Having the right teacher makes a huge difference in your vocal training development, so it is important to pick one with care. Preferably, find a vocal instructor who is well-established in the music field and has a good many years of teaching experience. Look for a sympathetic, generous personality as well – you want to enjoy the process of singing, not develop a dread about it from an over-critical, impatient instructor. Talk to the other students to find out about their experience and perspective on the singing classes. If you have a very busy schedule and can’t find time to commute to a vocal training studio, you can take singing lessons online. There are many websites that offer lessons, live or otherwise, through various interactive media.
