Step 10 in increasing your chances of getting on any vocal reality show should be that you need to learn how to make eye contact and sell the song and the experience.

One of THE MOST important skills you need to master is eye contact. If you are uncomfortable making eye contact in general you’ll need to overcome that fear. Otherwise, the judges will notice your lack of confidence. Great artists know how to connect with their audience.

To help you overcome your fear, a good practice is to lock into the eyes of the person you are engaging in conversation. Stare them down. You can actually make it a game and see how long it takes them to start feeling uncomfortable and look the other way. Eye contact is the cornerstone to an artists’ confidence. Think about this. If you go to a concert or meet your favorite artist, wouldn’t you feel more engaged with the artist if he or she notices you and looks you directly in the eyes? I believe you would. When you are performing your song, don’t just stare uncomfortably into outer space. Deliver your song to the audience, the judges! Sell them. Convince them you’ve lived the song you are singing. Master this skill of eye contact while performing. Even if your vocal performance may not be the best, confident eye contact could make the difference in you getting to the next round!

Harmonious sounds are also said to have an effect on the brain, making its waves more regular and in sync with the heart rhythm. In addition to this, music improves concentration skills and learning capacities, so it can lead to better grades in students, too.

It seems like music in present times is lacking the magic it had in the past. Everyone is in the middle of an avalanche of songs that are technically changed to sound “in”, yet the result is an unsatisfactory pile of sounds, electronic support and less voice. There is a culture of global consumption and performers appear not to possess the aptitudes that enable them to offer to the public an ingenious music masterpiece.

One of the denominators responsible for a state of banality is owed to the fact that many artists cover already original songs. They change the format of a melody from past decades like the 80s and the 90s and give them a modern twist as far as sound is concerned. Regrettably, the result succeeds unanimously to upset the listeners and remains at the stage of being an unlucky endeavor to produce something novel.

Originality is not full of infinite resources. Nevertheless, in past decades music was genuine and succeeded in mesmerizing the audience, attribute that present music lacks. The issue is that surrounded by hi-tech approach you cannot feel the lyrics or the message they convey for that matter. All the “smashing hits” are like a global chorus, using autotune and being ruled by beats whereas the voice is something left in the background.
