Sony HDR-SR12

If you browse the internet The World-wide-web Niche - The global economy has been severely impacted. Millions of people have lost their jobs, many are losing their homes, and retirement portfolios are disappearing at an alarming rate. What happens in the World Wide Web? We often discuss the global financial tsunami, an economic crisis on a scale that rivals the Great Depression of the… , you’ll come across numerous Sony HDR-TD10 reviews. However, do you know what most of them are? They are relentless promotions of the product that the reviewers haven’t even used, all in the name of making a quick profit. What kind of reviewing is that? My goal for this article is to provide you with my honest HDR-TD10 review, without any hype. Furthermore, my objective for this website is to offer reviews from individuals who have actually used or owned the product, so you can get an accurate idea of whether this video camera is right for you.

But I want to go beyond that. I plan on showing you where to purchase the Sony HDR-TD10 (towards the end of the article) if you want to get the best deal. And you know what? It’s probably not from where you would expect. Many websites may direct you to buy it from the Best Buy website or Nextag. However, the truth is that you’ll end up paying more. I’m going to reveal to you where you can buy it for less. And the best part is, it’s likely from a website that you’re already familiar with and comfortable purchasing from – not some sketchy-looking sales page with yellow highlighter and fake crossed-out prices.

My Comprehensive Sony HDR-TD10 Review

Since I live in Las Vegas and attended the 2011 CES trade show, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the Sony HDR-TD10 3D/HD Handycam before it was even released. I have been using it for a while now, and while my overall impression is positive, I do have a few complaints. However, since this is such a complex device, let’s break down this review into several different sections.

  1. Physical Features

When compared to the old movie cameras from the 90s, this handycam is compact and small. However, compared to another Sony HD camera like the HDR-CX700V, it is quite large. But then again, those other cameras don’t offer full 3D like the TD10. The reason for the added size is that the TD10 has side-by-side lenses in the front, which are necessary for capturing a 3D image The History of 3D - Why an History of 3D? The box-office success of stereoscopic 3D blockbusters, such as James Cameron's Avatar and Disney's Up, showcased the impressive capabilities of modern 3D technology to cinema audiences worldwide, and demonstrated that the public was eager for more 3D experiences. Following the success of these films, 3D televisions emerged, allowing viewers to… .

Aside from that, this camcorder is stylish and sleek. It has a padded hand strap and a textured surface that is comfortable for extended use. I held onto this camera throughout my daughter’s entire high school basketball game (which went into overtime), and it didn’t strain my hand.

It has various ports on the back, including the power compartment. You will also find the switch to toggle between 2D and 3D recording on the back.

The 8.8 cm LCD screen is quite standard for handycams in this price range.

  1. Manual Controls

If you’re a beginner with handycams, you may not use these controls extensively. However, if you’re an AV enthusiast like me, you’ll want to delve into them. The Sony HDR-TD10 offers many options for manual control. The downside is that most of these options are unavailable in 3D mode (which is expected for a product of this kind).

Auto Mode – No complaints here. It works similarly to other Sony cameras from recent years. The Intelligent Auto controls, which automatically select a scene mode for the user, are also useful during 3D shooting.

Low Light Mode – This mode lowers the shutter speed to 1/30 of a second and works effectively as long as there is some light available. However, it’s not night vision, so don’t expect to film in pitch-black darkness.

Zoom – The top-mounted zoom toggle is the best method for zooming. Other techniques can be sensitive and difficult to control. It offers up to 10x zoom in 3D mode and 12x zoom in 2D mode. There is also an option for extended zoom at 17x. The zooming remained steady even at significant zoom levels, but it may require some practice to get the zoom exactly where you want it.

Focus – Sony has an excellent autofocus tracking feature where you can tap on a subject in the frame, and the camera will automatically keep it in focus no matter where it moves. For most people, this is as advanced as you need to go. However, this feature is not available in 3D mode. To fine-tune focus in 3D mode, you can use the touchscreen or the control dial on the front. The touchscreen is easier to use, although the control dial allows for more precise adjustments.

Other advanced features include Exposure, Aperture, Shutter Speed, White Balance, and advanced Color settings. All of these functions work in 3D mode, except for Aperture and Shutter Speed.

  1. 3D Features

Let’s be honest here. The 3D capabilities are the main reason why you’re interested in this camcorder. And who can blame you? After all, the Sony HDR-TD10 is the first consumer-level camera with an integrated 3D/HD lens.

Pros: The 3D feature is easy to use. There’s no need for lens calibration or swapping out lenses. You simply flip a switch, and you’re in 3D mode. You don’t need special glasses to view the footage in 3D, although it looks incredible if you do watch it with glasses on a 3D-enabled HDTV.

Cons: There is less control and convenience when it comes to fine-tuning settings for advanced users.

Conclusion:

If you’re in the market for a 3D/HD camera that doesn’t require a technical background to operate, this is the one for you. In terms of contemporary handycams, the Sony HDR-TD10 is a bit bulky. If you don’t plan on using the 3D features, you might consider opting for a similar camera that is more compact. However, it’s not like the camera weighs 20 pounds. It has a weight of just 3 pounds and measures 6 x 4.1 x 9 inches. The 3D footage it captures is incredible, and once you experience it, you may never want to go back to recording in 2D.
