The first operational computer network in the world was the “Advanced Research Projects Agency Network” (ARPANET) for the United States Department of Defense, funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). The development of this network began in 1969 and was fully realized during the 1960s.

So, what is networking? In the world of computers, networking refers to the practice of connecting two or more computing devices together to facilitate the sharing of information. IT networks are built using a combination of computer hardware and software.
