Art comes in variety and abstract is one of those. Abstract is a type of art that comes in different form. It is so hard to determine at times and the subject is usually hard to interpret as well. Interpreting abstract art may be a little harder especially if the viewer is not familiar with the type of strokes being used by the maker. Usually, abstract art depends on the feeling of the maker and how the viewers will interpret them. It is also nice and fun to interpret an abstract form of art but do you know that there is a perfect and correct way of interpreting it. Here are ways of how you can interpret an abstract art in a right manner:

1. First thing that you have to do is to look closely at the abstract art but first, don’t look for the meaning. Usually, a great abstract art shows feelings or objects that are still within the viewer. But as a viewer, you shouldn’t focus on one aspect alone because you need to look at the entire piece and not on a single stroke.

2. You also need to ask yourself about the meaning of the color, shadows and textures shown in the art. You have to study the abstract art for you to be able to see if the elements are all complementing each other or if they are contradicting.

3. You also need to look at the abstract art that shows feelings. Those feelings are composed of colors, shapes and strokes as well. There are elements that will show in every art and along the way, you will see the turmoil, hate, anxiousness and sadness that the maker of the art wants the viewer to see. The elements that will complement each other will make anyone happy, calmer and fresher as well when you come to view the entire work of art.

4. There are times when the title of the art also shows how the entire art was made. Through the title, you will be able to see the entire abstract art form using your own perspective. You can also ask yourself if the stroke or if the title also complement each other through the work of art that the maker made. Artists work in different ways and their thoughts vary as well. They have their own way of explaining art through the strokes that they are making.

5. By allowing yourself to enjoy enough time to interpret and connect with every stroke will make it easier for you to interpret a specific abstract art.

Abstract is known as a major form of modern artwork and art design and the idea of making an abstract is simpler yet it is also known as an exaggerated form of art. Do you dream about playing a bass guitar? Do you want to learn the basics? If so, then the information below will help you become a bass player. Let’s go ahead and get familiarized with the bass guitar.

The form of the bass guitar includes the neck, the body, the headstock, and the tuning pegs. The body is attached to the neck which hold the strings and the frets and is where you place your fingers. The headstock is the very end of the neck and is where the four tuning pegs are located.

A bass has four strings that have different tunes and are ordered as E, A, D and G. Thickest to the thinnest.

Bass playing has some terms associated with it and are called the fretting and plucking. You Fret by holding two strings and letting go together to play a note. The way of doing this is to place your thumb behind the neck and have your fingers tilted above the fret board. Plucking is different and is done by plucking each string to get the desired note. You can either use a pick when your plucking or use just your fingers.

The proper posture is required before you play any note. If your right-handed, have the headstock to the left and if your left-handed have it to the right. In right-handed position the E-string, which is the thickest, is at the top. If your left-handed the G-string, which is the thinnest,will be at the top unless you re-string your bass.

To play “Open” you pluck the E string by not using using the fretting hand. Then pluck the A string, then the D string followed lastly by the G-string all done without using the fretting hand.

Repeating this by holding the string with your forefinger of your fretting hand and it will produce a different sound than the “Open” technique. Each time you move closer to the base with the fret it will create a higher note from the previous.

Try and find a song to play and produce the melody with the notes. Bass guitar playing is all about having fun and enjoying the notes. Have fun in your practice and learning.

One illustration of abstract art blurring the lines between other Modern Art movements is when Cubism or Futurism was first conceived. Critics regarded both of these art genres as abstract.

The basis for these modern art movements being termed as, ‘Abstract Art’ was due to their qualities of taking the non visual aspects of an object and portraying that quality within the visual element of the painting. One example is ‘emotions’. Emotions can’t be seen but can be interpreted by the artist and therefore portrayed within the painting, this was seen as abstract.

The meaning of Abstract art these days is more suited to that of Abstract Expressionism whereby an artist will express their creativity through a subconscious process, resulting in a painting that is non-objective and non-representational.

This leads to the definition of Abstract art. Abstract art is purely non-objective and non-representational. I.e. it isn’t based on any visual aspect of an object. An object isn’t even considered at any point during the creation process of a piece of Abstract art.

Artists that are deemed as Abstract art artists are the likes of Wassily Kandinsky (who’s art is also deemed as Expressionism). Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Barnett Newman and Franz Kline (Who’s art is deemed as Abstract Expressionism). Piet Mondrian (Who’s art is deemed as De Stijl). Bridget Riley (Who’s art is deemed as Op Art).

Maybe it would change the mood. Maybe it would make it better to play. Perhaps you wouldn’t even play it in the first place.

Think about chess. One of my friends has Simpsons themed chess pieces. It makes the game more casual, and you can’t really be uber-competitive and serious when you are focused on keeping Homer alive. But the game’s rules don’t change. It’s the same exact game. The pieces are moot.

So why do we care about graphics? I think it’s how we pick what games we want to play. If I am scrolling through thumbnails on a Flash portal, I’m going to want to play the game that looks the coolest. Or, if I’m looking for chess pieces and I’m a serious player, I definitely wouldn’t get Simpsons pieces.

Let’s say you have two games; one game will have childish, noob-looking graphics and the other will have clean, stylish Illustrator graphics. If you were playing the childish game, you’d probably be playing the game thinking about how the graphics are weird. That could get in the way of things.

In conclusion, I think graphics are a necessity because other games have them. Having cool-looking art is just another way to one-up your competitors. Essentially, I think it’s all relative; in this reality that we make games in, we need to have graphics so people take us seriously (for the most part.) Wouldn’t it be cool if there was some parallel universe where games where just circles and squares and different colors to let you know what you’re doing?

Maybe that wouldn’t be cool. (Note: just so you know, I’m a graphic artist, not a programmer. If graphics weren’t important, I would be even less important. I’ve tried to become a programmer simply because I feel like graphics aren’t as important as programming. I hope that someday I’ll be able to program… but I’m not even close to that point at this point.)

Anyway, enough of my ranting. My points are probably stupid. I’m bad at this kind of thing. So I want to know what you guys think. Why do we care so much about graphics of games? What if there weren’t graphics in games?
