Devil May Cry: Anime Incarnation Of A Fun Video Game

Devil May Cry is an entertaining video game series, and its anime adaptation is no exception. It contains all the elements a great series should have: fights, guns, detective noir, and demons – lots of demons. While the anime features recurring characters from the video game series, its storyline does not touch on events that occur in the games. The anime’s story is entirely original. The episodes are mostly one-shots, but a main story lingers in the background until the last few episodes. The show flows much like Cowboy Bebop, just with fewer comedic moments.

Each episode introduces a case that Dante must solve using his guns, sword, and wits. (For those new to the DMC universe, Dante is the owner of a detective-like agency that deals exclusively with people experiencing demonic problems.) He receives some assistance from a few old friends and some new ones as well. The latest addition to Team Devil May Cry is a young girl named Patty. Dante rescues her in the first episode, and she becomes his unofficial Girl Friday, with duties ranging from redecorating the office with tasteful pink bows to nagging Dante to stop eating pizza and pay the bills. …
