For all the guitar freaks out there, it is a dream to play the instrument as skilfully as their rock idols. They want to do this not only to impress others but also for their personal satisfaction and to fulfil their dream in an efficient way. But, it is not possible to learn this art, unless one has the passion inside to do so.
The time it takes to learn how to play guitar may vary from person to person. More importantly, it depends upon the amount of passion of the person, who is willing to learn this skill. The learner should understand one thing clearly that listening to music is totally different from playing it, as it will not only require from you to keep your ears open, but also will demand your time, attention, continuous practice and sometimes even burning finger tips. But in the end, the satisfaction is worth all the effort.
It is a common perception that mastering the art of guitar playing takes years and years, which is true to some extent. But there is good news for those who have a passion for this art but cannot take out much time due to their busy schedules. There are various techniques using which guitar can be learnt in a comparatively shorter span of time.
Nowadays, learners start playing songs on a guitar only in a month by practicing the major and minor chords, and progressions with the help of music theory. One can play songs only in a month, if there is a strong will power and quest for learning.
All the beginners get a fresh and inspirational experience when starting out the lessons. Perfection and flawlessness are achieved with time and dedication, but regular practice is a must. Take the example of a baby; he might fall several times while learning to walk, but finally learns to walk with his efforts and development of leg muscles. Same is the case with guitarists; with time and practice, muscles of your fingers will get used to the strings. In the beginning, some learners may face difficulty and some may give up, but those who are steadfast and practice a lot will surely succeed.
Just like doing regular workouts in a gym makes your muscles strong, regular practice on guitar will make your fingers strong and adjust them to get used to the required movements. You cannot become a rock star the very first time you grab a guitar in your hands. It takes several stages, in order to proceed to excellence and exactitude.
Start with single string practice. Try to play songs that are easy and are among your favourite, in order to get motivated for later stages. Do not move between strings too much in the beginning. Once you perfect yourself in single string playing, only then you can move forward.
As you become experienced, move on to more difficult songs, which require more talent and multiple string usage. Soon, you will find yourself having multiple guitars, and becoming an entertainer for others. In the end, the motto of a guitar learner should go as “practice makes a guitarist perfect”.
