Who Remembers The Composer Sergei Prokofiev

Music is often said to soothe the savage beast, but the effect greatly depends on the nature of the music itself. If it is harsh and barbaric, it may not offer much solace. Words cannot always adequately describe our emotions, as thoughts are often beyond the reach of language. Traditional refrains are wonderful, but without a composer, they may never come to life. Sergei Prokofiev is remembered as one of the greatest composers in this regard.

Prokofiev was born in a place called Sontsovka, around 1891, which was a small village in Ukraine. Today, the village is known as Krasne. His father was named Sergei Alekseievich, and his mother was Mariya Zitkova. Although he had siblings, none of them survived beyond their early years. His parents were extremely protective of their precious child.

Despite Mariya’s difficult upbringing, she excelled in education and sought to impart as much knowledge as possible to her only living child. Her breadth of knowledge was extensive, and she did not let anyone hinder her from teaching him. Sergei’s father ensured that he received an education in the natural sciences. Tutors were hired to help him learn European languages.
