For any one interested in playing any kind of instrument or performing vocals for that manner you have to have a working understanding of basic music theory. Music theory is the basic premises for the understanding of music. This includes reading it, being able to write basic notes on the two different clefs and having a working understanding about what makes music tick.

Some of the basics that are important to understand are timing signatures, the notes on the bass and treble clef, minor and major notes and other notations which tell you such things as to play louder, softer sticcato etc. There is a musical language all its own which is important to be aware of.

Many beginner musicians get involved in their instrument and forget about the basics. When the time comes for them to learn more difficult pieces it becomes clear that not understanding these basics will be a difficulty for their continued musical advancement.

Learning to interpret and play jazz piano chords is necessary whether you are a beginner or an expert musician. Jazz notes are not like ordinary chords, which are heard in most music styles. Playing jazz involves several notes, such as the major, diminished, minor and augmented chords. A basic understanding of music may help, but playing with a swing rhythm is even more necessary in playing this style of music.

Making up rhythms spontaneously is necessary when playing the piano. Musicians who are naturally talented in improvising will find it easier to learn this playing style. It may help to have an innate ability to create rhythms on the spot.

The most helpful thing you can do to sharpen your craft as a musician is to listen. Playing records from great musicians creates a deeper enjoyment for this music style. Listen to any record you can find, even those from the swing era. Fusion artists add a touch of diversity to your listening experience. You can even pick up a few pointers from up-and-coming musicians.

The blues is certainly a soulful genre that dates back to black history and the sorrow they’ve suffered during their early days of stay in the Americas as slaves. These unique forms of guitar scales have sense of soul and bellowing sorrow to them, which is why they’re regarded the blues. If you want to study the blues, first you must have a good foundation in understanding the fundamentals in knowing your fundamental scales as well as chords.

If you want to learn how to execute the blues properly on your guitar, you must already have a somewhat decent background in your major scales and have build certain dexterity with moving your fingertips around like a sweeping pattern. Practice your speed with all four fingers, most especially your index and ring finger since they’re used more in blues progressions.

Check online for a pattern on how to execute the blues scale. If you’re having trouble knowing what you’re looking for, a scale is basically a progression of single string plucks on your guitar that usually starts from the bass strings and ends with the higher string. If you know the pattern already, do so first in the regular sweeping pattern then alternate by inverting it as you climb up to the high bass strings.

1. Understand Music Theory: Music piano theory is the language in which musicians communicate with each other and their fans. Trying to connect with your listeners is an important thing to do. If you have a firm grasp on music theory, basic composition and arranging techniques you will be better off in composing songs that you will be better able to share with the world and connect with your fans. Never stop learning as a composer. So to nutshell this point, “Educate Thyself.”

2. Form: This is also known as “style” or “genre.” Figure out which form you like best. It can be Pop, Classical, New Age, Blues, Jazz, Country, etc.. Do a mixture if you’d like. For me personally I’ve chosen to perform my songs in a Contemporary Pop/ New Age form just because that’s the type that appeals to me the most. If you don’t know which form you like, make sure to spend some time listening to all forms to see which one perks your interest.

3. Trust in Your Taste: To quote a friend of mine Dr. Paul, “Do what you love for the people who love what you do.” Meaning, If you like it, there is someone else that will too. Focus on creating music that YOU enjoy!

Play Electric Guitar – America’s Beloved Music Maker

No comments yet - Check Manuel Career's News! --> Manuel Marino Official <--

Since its introduction generations of musicians play electric guitar, and its sound has inspired millions. When a musician is ready to explore his passion the guitar is the most sought after instrument. This amazing instrument has made its way into every style of popular music you can think of and has been used several different ways. It remains the single most common instrument among musicians as it is the most versatile and easiest to master.

Although acoustic versions of the guitar and similar instruments have been around for quite some time, the electric guitar is a relatively new invention, with a far reaching impact. What we know as the electronic guitar today was not the first shot at amplifying the guitar sound. This mostly included things like sticking a microphone on or inside of an acoustic guitar G. Beauchamp was thankfully triumphant in his tries at creating an amplified guitar in the early thirties.

The first people to play electric guitar were jazz musicians. Jazz was a very loud and boisterous style of music and the new guitar design was a shoe in for all the hyper energy. Soon the instrument spread to include other genres of music like western. With the incredibly energized instrument so hard to contain within one style of music it quickly inspired a whole new genre. Eventually rock and roll was spawned from the big electronic sounds of the amplified guitar.
