If you listen to the current music on the radio, you’ll come across a wide variety of songs and beats. It’s not uncommon to hear people singing over hip-hop beats or rapping over R&B beats. The blending of these two genres is quite prevalent in today’s music scene. However, one common mistake made by many underground rap artists is that they are overly focused on being what they consider “real” or “gangsta.”

It seems that they are more concerned with portraying a tough image than with marketing their records and making money. Consequently, they only use hard-hitting and “gangsta” sounding beats, and their lyrics revolve around themes of violence and crime. While it’s fine for them to express themselves in this way if it aligns with their artistic vision, it’s important to note that not every song on an album can be like that if they want to achieve commercial success as a multi-platinum selling artist. In order to have your music played on the radio or featured on platforms like BET or MTV, you need to have at least a few singles that have a more commercial appeal.
