The Process Structure is the first part of the Technology Rollout System. It provides the “bird’s eye view” of the relationship and communication flow from beginning (customer) to the end (local field technicians). It also:

- Defines the facilitation of the management of multi-site nationwide
and international projects

- Determines interaction between customer and technology rollout
company as well as between technology rollout company and field
resources

- Is used to gage the technology rollout company for delivering the
agreed to process structure for each site and to maintain
consistency and quality in execution

Not All Process Structures are Created Equal!
To fully understand how the Process Structure works, you must know what the various options are. Our White Paper explains the primary structures used for nationwide & international, multi-site technology rollouts. These include the:

1. Centralized Single-Tier
The customer uses a technology rollout company that directly
manages field technicians through a direct partnership.

2. Centralized Multi-Tier
The customer uses a technology rollout company that hires
subcontractors in a tiered hierarchy to manage field technicians.

3. Rent-a-Tech
The customer or technology rollout company uses a Rent-a-Tech
company in a shared management effort of field technicians.

4. Internal Employee
The customer or technology rollout company uses internal employees
for project management and field technicians. In Internal Employee
Process Structures, additional external local field technicians are
likely to be required due to the number of sites and costs
associated with employing sufficient internal field technicians to
handle nationwide or global rollouts.

5. Additional Structures: Hybrid
A number of variations of the four basic structures may exist as a
hybrid structure. They will have associated advantages and
disadvantages on an individual structure basis.

Evaluating the Process Structure

It’s important to look at the key differences between these Process Structures and the Rollout Category of the project you are deploying. How important is communication speed and accuracy? What about defined areas or responsibility or project tracking capabilities? What is the impact if a site does not deliver as expected? How do you mitigate your risk? In order to truly understand what you want, you have to know what you need and communicate it in a defined process structure for your rollout at any time.

While it is easy to look at the actual deployment of a technology solution as the main focal point for evaluating a technology rollout company (TRC), there actually four rollout phases to be aware of. These four phases include planning, scheduling, deployment and project close-out.

In each of these phases, there are items to consider in order to fully evaluate a technology rollout company’s capabilities.

Additional Issues to Watch for
Three primary issues to consider that come into play before or after the Deployment Phase of a technology rollout are listed below. While there are always additional items of consideration, these are some of the most critical that can have a devastating impact on your project deadline and budget.

Lack of Defined Scope of Work
A clear Scope of Work (SOW) is crucial to ensuring that all project requirements for the entire deployment are defined. It is a check-and-balance for all work that is performed as well as keeps everyone involved in the know about what is both expected and required for a successful technology rollout. Not having a defined SOW, which should be spearheaded by the TRC, is a warning sign that the rollout is headed for major problems.

Pricing
Pricing can be the subject of great dispute. All too often, a TRC will price services through a “low bid”, but what the customer rarely finds until too late are the hidden costs associated with a technology deployment. Large scale rollouts require management, internal resources, partnerships, and many other aspects that must be considered by a technology rollout company before engaging in nationwide or global deployments. Thus, having a transparent pricing structure with all items listed and defined is necessary to ensure that the customer knows what the “real’ pricing will be.

Billing
One of the most often overlooked aspects of a technology rollout, Billing accounts for a large part of the partner relationship. A technology rollout company must have a Billing component as part of its Rollout Services Model in order to ensure that all parties are paid correctly and efficiently. Without this part, you may find (either as a customer or end user) that you must dedicate resources to rectify the issues associated with work performed at your (or your customer’s) site location.

Ultrasonic Sensors and Process Scanner are broadly used in different terms and perspectives but hold a very eminent role in their respective areas.
Ultrasonic Sensors are also renowned as transceivers when both send and receive are possible from both the sides. The main work of the ultrasonic sensor is to estimate or calculate the characteristics of the target by observing the echoes very carefully via radio or sound waves. It measures the distance with the help of sonar. The ultrasonic sensors can also evaluate the echo which is received back by the sensor and generate high frequency sound waves. They can broadly determine the unit and distance till the target by calculating the time needed for the return of the echo. It can also calculate duration of time between sending the signal and receiving the echo to calculate the distance to an object.

The main purpose of the ultrasonic sensor is to do measurements of either moving or inactive objects. Further, they can also be used in many other works depending upon the nature and feature of the work which needs to be performed. They are highly useful in security systems, robotics applications and infrared replacement as well. The burst frequency of the ultrasonic sensor is 40 kHz for 200 uS and ranges from 2cm to 3m (~.75 to 10′) with a supply voltage of 5V +/-10%.
Process Scanner is a small program which is specially developed to do system maintenance tasks. It broadly processes and detects whether there are any unwanted or dangerous programs running in the system. The process scanner improves the PC’s performance efficiently and ensures that the system is not infected with any virus. They find wide application in pharmaceuticals, power plants, petrochemicals & chemical industries, furnaces and food industries. These process scanners cannot be used in offline mode and can also not remove the viruses or errors. The process scanners are E.R.T.L. Approved which makes sure about its quality. While the scanning process the scanner also displays a report that can be viewed at the website of the program. The main advantage of the scanner is that it is a small program, can scan fast, gives a detailed report about all the processes and is also freeware.

You must have all four parts in place for it to be a true system of methodologies, which is necessary for a technology rollout company (TRC) to be able to provide nationwide or global deployment services. And the benefits of a Technology Rollout System are considerable! These are just a few that you’ll enjoy:
- Minimized project costs by providing less vendors and clearer communication through a defined Process Structure
- Accelerated deployment time by utilizing an organized Deployment Method
- Accountability through on demand site status updates via the Web-based Software Application
- Scalability and flexibility to meet diverse project needs through the Rollout Delivery Team
- Independent of equipment and technology which allows for the deployment of any legacy and new technologies by utilizing a unified Rollout Services Model
- Highest quality of service

Not All Systems are Created Equal!
Just because a company claims to have a Technology Rollout System in place doesn’t mean it is the most efficient one for your project needs. For instance, a TRC may use the Centralized Single-Tier Process Structure, have a complete Rollout Services Model, but lack the Internal Resources and Rollout Delivery Team or the established Partnerships on a nationwide scale that are necessary to support the project from a manpower perspective.
Thus, just knowing the parts of a Technology Rollout System isn’t enough. You have to be able to evaluate those parts as well.

Evaluating a Technology Rollout System
Until recently, this information didn’t exist on an industry-wide level. There are a number of reasons why this information has gone unexplained for so long. It is a critical aspect after all – A multi-million or billion dollar project isn’t complete and will just be a pile of cables, equipment and circuits if the work at the site level is not completed professionally and efficiently. If the deployment and installation at the site level is ignored or written off as a commodity service, it’s the same as running a marathon and quitting 1 mile before you cross the finish line (maybe that’s why it’s called the Last Mile!).
Therefore, I strongly recommend you learn not only understand the Technology Rollout System of mythologies, but also how to evaluate the critical parts.

Some analysts are of the view that web technologies welcome phishing and fraud since the hackers and attackers look out for young browsers for infringing security.

Sometimes mobile web based solutions are stricken by the same problems that their desktop counterparts face. These solutions have to face browser incompatibilities, latency, etc. Additionally, they have to bear the slow progress of web standards. Mobile Web apps do have a market in the future but it is important that one should take care while choosing a technology and should be aware of its advantages and limitations.

Apps developed in native technologies have managed to find a good market in the mobile app development space but they are dependent on old proprietary desktop technologies and tools. For example, the iPhone SDK is based on a technology that was developed in the 1980s. The same is the problem with Android SDK which is reminiscent of the decade-old Swing SDK and its declarative UI architecture.

Developing a native application for both the iPhone and Android devices requires advanced development skills and is extremely complex too. The native technologies are not sustainable enough since there is a very small number of companies which develop mobile applications using native SDK directly.

This has led to the emergence of cross-platform solutions in the market including PhoneGap, Appcelerator Titanium, AppMobi etc. There is also a small number of companies who rely on Domain Specific Languages through which one can create native code. The best advantage of native code is that it can be changed, compiled and deployed once the app is written from scratch. Additionally, one of the best advantages of using domain specific languages for mobile app development are the rapid development cycles which can be achieved due to the simplification of the programming model.
