Irish Jewelry and Celtic Symbolism

Jewelry, as we know it, has existed since time immemorial. Today, these adornments are considered mere accessories, used to embellish a person from head to toe. What we often fail to recognize is that these small trinkets have their own stories to tell. They reveal a part of the history of every culture known to humankind.

The origin of the word “jewelry” can be traced back to the Latin term “jocale,” which means plaything. However, to our ancestors, a piece of jewelry was more than just a plaything. They were considered currency, used as status symbols, representations of membership in a group, and sometimes even protection from disease or evil spirits.

For example, a crown is a symbol of royalty, and anyone who wears it is implied to belong to a family of noble blood. To believers of Jesus Christ, the cross is a symbol of their faith, or sometimes a weapon against the fallen angel. Essentially, the interpretation of the meanings of jewelry depends on the individual looking at it.

Earlier forms of jewelry were said to be made from various materials, ranging from grass, bones, wood, stones, metal, semi-precious gems, and even rare stones of …

Glass Scratch And Graffiti Protection

Graffiti
by duncan

It is an unfortunate reality in today’s world that glass is a common target for graffiti vandals. They may spray paint on it, scratch it with stones or other hard objects, or etch it with acid. Additionally, the glass used in construction can often be subject to accidental damage, such as grazing and scratching, or overspraying. Since glass is widely used in buildings, storefronts, and car windows, the cost of replacement after such damage can become prohibitive.

As it seems impossible to prevent this damage from occurring in the first place, what is needed to reduce the cost is graffiti protection or glass scratch protection in the case of construction damage. This protection comes in the form of a durable, transparent film that covers the glass.

The film is virtually invisible when applied to the glass and can last up to 10 years. Due to its durability, it is much less likely to be damaged by graffiti or accidental scratching. If it does get damaged, it costs significantly less to replace than the actual glass. It is the ideal solution for glass in public spaces that are prone to graffiti damage.

In the case of glass that has …

Gielgud Theatre

The Gielgud Theatre is located in London’s West End on Shaftesbury Avenue, right in the heart of Theatreland. It has been part of the Delfont Mackintosh Theatres group since 2006.

Initially, the theater was known as the Hicks Theatre. It opened under this name in 1906, in honor of actor, manager, and playwright Seymour Hicks. Hicks produced the theatre’s first musical, The Beauty of Bath, along with Cosmo Hamilton, and went on to produce another successful play, even taking over his wife’s role as she fell ill.

For most of the 20th century, it was called the Globe Theatre, where notable productions took place. In 1994, the theater was renamed once again, this time in honor of the great British actor Sir John Gielgud.

Since the theater’s inception, there have been various changes and refurbishments, including alterations to seating arrangements where seats and boxes have been removed. Upon encountering the theater building, you’ll notice its splendid appearance, both inside and out.

The building is impressively tall, with four stories and a striking turret on top. It is a magnificent structure, looking especially beautiful at night when lit up. Inside, there is an elegant circular Regency staircase, an oval

Why Comics?

Every time I conduct a personal examination of the good and bad aspects of my life, reading comics consistently emerges as one of the best things that ever happened to me. It’s simply an experience I will never regret – a source of joy. And we could all use more of that, couldn’t we?

The core attraction of comics is the simple and primeval allure of stories. The art of storytelling is as old as mankind and will always be with us. That’s what comics are: words and images that come together to form a story.

If you’re not into reading comics but want to give it a try, the entry point is easy. It’s how I got into this hobby when I was eight years old. It’s how it took hold of me and never let go – a sublime addiction that has stayed with me throughout my life.

It begins with one issue. A typical comic book issue contains 32 pages of full-color art and story.

Pick up a comic book, any comic book. Perhaps the cover catches your eye, someone recommended it, you read something positive about it on a website, …

Learning To Appreciate Modern Abstract Art

Modern abstract art Finding Good Modern Abstract Art Online - by mattbuck4950 The internet has liberated many previously institutionalized things, including modern abstract art, which used to be exclusively the domain of galleries and gallery owners. Now, people can source their art directly, allowing their own preferences to play as much of a role as their budgets in determining what goes on their walls. But… holds a special place in the hearts and minds of people. To the uninitiated, it seems as if any second grader could produce what only a true artist can master. There is a tendency for some to underestimate the real expertise and technical skill required by an abstract artist. I once overheard someone in a gallery comment on a piece they were looking at, expressing disbelief that people would “spend good money on a piece of crap like that.” I held my tongue because I remembered how, not too long ago, I had uttered similarly uninformed comments. I knew that this person simply didn’t know better, as they hadn’t taken the time to learn about this beautiful art form.

An abstraction is something that is not meant to be an accurate representation of …
