I was immediately impressed with this acoustic guitar right out of the box, just like many other reviewers of the Ibanez AW35. The setup was nearly perfect. I had to make some minor adjustments to the action, but other than that, it was fabulous. The guitar plays very smoothly and much faster than my other guitar. The neck of the guitar is nice and smooth, and the fingerboard offers minimal resistance.
The guitar is well-built, just as most of the reviews for the Ibanez AW35 mentioned. The cedar top and mahogany sides and back are unexpected but very pleasant materials for a guitar in this price range. The neck is also made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is constructed from rosewood. There’s no doubt that the overall construction of the acoustic guitar produces a beautiful and robust sound.
It’s worth noting that this guitar is not made in the US, which may have deterred some Ibanez AW35 testers. However, I don’t think this six-string could have been competitively priced if it were manufactured here. It originates from China, but it’s still crafted with excellent workmanship. The instrument appears to be made using high-quality practices, as I could hardly find any significant manufacturing flaws.
The finish is very good, although there are some small imperfections that could have been avoided with more meticulous sanding of the seams.
