It can be challenging to convince an Apple fan to consider an Android tablet, as their loyalty to Apple products is often unwavering. However, there are rational consumers who are willing to look beyond the iPad. For these objective buyers, here are a few reasons why an Android tablet can be a better choice than an Apple device.

  1. Variety of Options: While iPad buyers are limited to the hardware and operating system provided by Apple, those who prefer Android tablets can choose from a wide range of manufacturers offering different sizes and models. Android tablets come in various sizes, ranging from 5 inches to 10+ inches, allowing consumers to find a device that suits their preferences.
  2. Open Source: Apple’s iOS is not open source, meaning developers have to work within the limitations and changes Apple decides to incorporate. On the other hand, the Android OS is an open-source project based on Linux. This allows an army of developers to continuously add features and improve the system. Additionally, any manufacturer can choose to use Android, which reduces the overall cost for consumers.
  3. Processing Power: Apple has maintained tight control over the processing power of its devices. While they could use more powerful processors capable of multitasking, it would require changes to the rest of the device to support the advanced computing needs. Other manufacturers have already incorporated these changes, offering tablets that are more powerful and capable of handling tasks that the iPad cannot.
  4. Replacements and Service: Apple’s design of the iPad makes it virtually impossible to provide service and support for individual components. If a customer’s battery dies, Apple has to replace the entire device. Android-based tablets, on the other hand, can easily have individual parts replaced, reducing costs and inconvenience for consumers.
  5. iTunes Dependency: iPad users are required to sync with iTunes to transfer downloads purchased from another device to their iPad. The Android marketplace does not require such a complex procedure. Users can buy apps on any device and send them directly to their Android tablets without the need for syncing.

Ultimately, the choice between an Apple device and an Android tablet comes down to personal preference. While Apple devices may be considered hip and cool, they often lack the flexibility and variety offered by Android tablets. Android tablets provide consumers with a range of options, manufacturers, and real value. It’s important for buyers to consider their specific needs and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each platform before making a decision.
