When we listen to someone playing a beautiful piece on the piano, whether on the radio or at a live concert, apart from enjoying the moment, we may wonder what makes the piece so beautiful. The combination of rhythm and tempo creates a melodic tune that is almost celestial, captivating our attention and transporting our minds. The chords played on the piano contribute to this beauty, forming a captivating range of heartwarming notes that evoke emotions aligned with the mood of the piece.

Just like the seven wonders of the world, piano music chords encompass seven octaves, consisting of seven alphabetical notes from A to G. The piano keyboard is distinguished by its 52 white keys and 36 black keys.

Piano chords are further classified into various types. There are 25 commonly used chord types that can be played on the piano. Some examples include major chords, minor chords, augmented chords, diminished chords, suspension chords, and many more. There have been different opinions regarding the actual number of playable chords on the piano. Some even estimate it to be around 8,400 chords on a standard 88-key piano. However, many of these chords may be too complex or too low to be incorporated into playing a piece.

Chords are represented on a music sheet as a reference for the pianist. The convenience of the internet today provides a wide range of websites displaying the different chords playable on a piano. Online piano lessons are also available to anyone interested.

In conclusion, it is highly recommended to make a small investment in order to have a better understanding of the basic chords on the piano keyboard. This can be achieved by either acquiring a piano teacher or purchasing a book on piano chords.
