Sade Adu, the lead singer of the band SADE, made a remarkable comeback to the stage after more than a decade off the radar. Her previous albums, “Diamond Life” (1984) and “Lovers Rock” (2000), have become timeless additions to the collections of soul and soft rock fans worldwide. Finally, last evening, her fans had the opportunity to see her live at the Toronto Air Canada Center.

I will never forget this show. It was absolutely mind-blowing!

John Legend and his band kicked off the evening with a set of touching and soulful rhythms, creating a perfect romantic atmosphere in anticipation of Sade’s performance. People were on their feet, dancing Trance Music - Free Flowing Electronica - Have you ever found yourself dancing in a club, utterly absorbed in the melody, feeling as if the trance music is flowing through you and guiding your body's movements? This is an experience I've had numerous times during carefree nights at local techno clubs I've often wondered which type of techno generates this unforgettable sensation… and singing, eagerly awaiting her arrival. With her great voice, terrific music, and beautiful stage decor in a 50s prom night style, everything was fantastic and provided a small energy boost. However, you could sense that the real treat was yet to come. During the intermission, the DJ played some tunes to set the mood, but everyone was at the edge of their seats, waiting in anticipation. And then, suddenly, the lights came on, and there she was – a goddess, a timeless beauty, looking even better than some women in their 20s. It was truly amazing. The crowd went wild, applauding and screaming, “Sade, we love you!”

The choice of her opening song, “Soldier of Love,” perfectly set the tone for the entire evening, gradually revealing Sade’s true essence.

Many of the songs performed during the show were from her two albums, “The Best of Sade” and the latest release, “Soldier of Love” (2010). She truly knows what her fans love. In no time, everyone was dancing and singing along. This was my first show at the Air Canada Center that made me kick off my heels and fully immerse myself in the music. And just when everyone thought it couldn’t get any better, Sade would surprise her fans with a new outfit or a state-of-the-art stage setup that sometimes felt like a 3D experience, making you feel as if you were truly part of the story of the song.

The emotional intensity of the show gradually increased and reached its peak during “Pearls” and “Jezebel,” bringing some people to tears, deeply touched by the beauty of her voice and the myriad of emotions she could evoke. I was captivated by her soothing voice, which sounded even better live than recorded, believe it or not!

This was far from just an average concert; it was a true performance, meticulously crafted with stage design, costumes, choreography, acoustics, visuals, and an overall production that sets the bar for all artists. And if I have to wait another ten years for a show like this, I’m more than willing to do so!
