I have a few friends, however, who are right-handed but play a left-handed guitar. Some of them simply felt more comfortable holding it that way, while others wanted to experiment.
But as with everything in life, it’s possible to adapt to different circumstances, and there is nothing that would prevent you from learning to play a left-handed guitar. Practice, practice, practice!
One major downside is that left-handed guitars are more expensive and harder to find compared to their right-handed counterparts. Many companies don’t invest the time and resources into producing left-handed models because it requires modifying their entire manufacturing process. Additionally, only around 10% of the population is left-handed, and a majority of them (over 50%) prefer playing right-handed guitars. One more point to consider is that you won’t be able to borrow other people’s guitars. Does that sound odd to you? What I meant was that if you’re at a friend’s house or at a gathering and there is a guitar available, unless it’s a left-handed guitar, you won’t be able to play it!
So carefully weigh these factors and determine if the benefits still outweigh the costs for you.
