The captivating story-driven video game created by Bethesda Softworks emerged as the winner at the 9th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, surpassing blockbuster competitors such as the infamous “Grand Theft Auto: IV” and the zombie shooter “Left 4 Dead.”

Todd Howard, the game director at Bethesda, expressed his delight on Thursday, stating, “This is the first time we have ever received this award, and we are incredibly thrilled to have been chosen by fellow game developers, especially considering the exceptional games that were in contention. It holds great significance for us.”

Furthermore, “Fallout 3” also received recognition by winning the Best Writing award during the ceremony, which was considered a highlight of the Game Developers Conference (GDC).

The Sony-backed game “LittleBigPlanet,” developed by Media Molecule from Britain, emerged as the top winner of the evening, securing awards for game design technology, innovation, and Best Debut Game. LittleBigPlanet not only encourages individuals to play games but also provides them with a platform to create and share their own games.

The latest installment of “Prince of Persia” by the renowned French video game maker Ubisoft was honored in the Best Visual Arts category for its hauntingly beautiful imagery. Additionally, “God of War: Chains of Olympus” was awarded the title of Best Handheld Game.

GDC content director Meggan Scavio commented, “The games acknowledged here are masterful endeavors that have genuinely propelled the video game industry forward. The Game Developers Conference has become the premier video game award show because it amplifies the voices of those who possess the utmost understanding of games: the creators themselves.”
