The History of Bluetooth Technology

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that is integrated into electronic devices. It enables users to transmit and share information wirelessly, such as music, voice, and videos. Bluetooth technology utilizes radio waves, similar to cell phones, TVs, and FM radio, but the main difference is the distance.

Radios and TVs broadcast signals over long distances, while Bluetooth technology only transmits information to a personal area network (PAN) within a range of 33 feet. When a product is labeled as Bluetooth-enabled, it means that the product contains hardware or a small computer chip that contains the Bluetooth radio, as well as software that allows the user to connect that product to other devices using Bluetooth technology.

Bluetooth technology was developed by Ericsson in 1994, and in 1998, a group of companies worked together to connect their products using Bluetooth technology. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was subsequently created to preserve and develop the technology. Bluetooth technology was originally designed as a replacement for wires and cables between devices such as mice and keyboards, but it can now connect a wide range of devices, including TVs, music players, and healthcare equipment.
