If you want to learn how to sing falsetto, there are several resources that can be helpful. Falsetto, also known as a false singing voice, gained popularity in the 1950s when it emerged from a cappella music. During this time, many “doo-wop” groups, or falsetto groups, were formed, similar to gospel quartets in the Southern United States. To learn falsetto, you should ideally be a trained singer looking to expand your vocal range. The term “falsetto” is typically used for male singers, like Justin Timberlake, who sing in a higher-than-normal pitch. This term can also apply to high-pitched singing in general.

Singing high notes requires a lot of practice and vocal exercises, as the vocal cords need to adapt to the higher pitch. Falsetto does not apply to female singers since they naturally possess the ability to sing high notes, unlike male singers. Common mistakes when learning to sing falsetto include an inability to control pitch and fluctuating between high pitch and your natural voice. If your chest vibrates while singing, it means you are using your natural voice, not falsetto. When singing falsetto, only the outer edges of the vocal cords should vibrate.
