There is evidence that for centuries, ordinary people have been singing melodies and playing instruments, but since many could not write anything down, the origins of many early folk melodies remain uncertain.
The majority of early folk songs are about significant events in the daily lives of ordinary people. These events include birth, love, weddings, deaths, and farming or harvesting.
