In our modern days, the Internet has become an integral part of our lives to the extent that we cannot go a day without it. However, not everyone is aware that the Internet actually originated in the 19th century with the development of the telegraph. People were able to exchange information using electrical and telephone wiring, although communication was limited to specific points. In today’s world, things have drastically changed.

The Internet as we know it today was the result of visionary minds in the 1960s. J.C.R. Licklider is credited with introducing the term “Internet” into our vocabulary. Initially, computers were primarily used for military and research purposes, and the general public had limited access. The foundation for Internet connections was laid by an M.I.T. team with the development of the concept of “packet switching.” Later, Lawrence Roberts (MIT) created the ARPANET, which played a significant role in shaping the Internet.

The Internet was officially introduced under that name in 1969. The agency responsible for overseeing its development was ARPA (Advanced Research Project Agency).
