More than 4000 years ago, the Sumerians established settlements in the valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. They were the first civilization to transition from a nomadic lifestyle to settled communities, and their inventions transformed the way we live today. Many things we take for granted, such as farming, calendars, and wheels, were all Sumerian innovations. Writing was also developed during this time, and Sumerian art and culture reached a level of sophistication that was remarkable for its era. Sumerian art can be categorized into three main types: ritual objects, state objects, and personal objects.
Dating back to 2400 BC, archaeologists have discovered exquisitely crafted and idealized representations from the Sumerian classical period. Some of these portraits are made of marble, while others are carved from black-gray diorite. Excavations have revealed exceptional talent and artistry in Sumerian art.
Sumerian art was characterized by its complexity and ornate nature, with clay being the most abundant material used. Stone, wood, and metal had to be imported into Sumer, and painting and sculpture were the primary mediums employed. Art was predominantly used for religious purposes.

Inspired by nature
The glorious portal of a new year is again upon me. My mind has wondered since the start of 2008 as to which direction my creative self will take.
For me a torrent of feelings were released in 2007 through the making of art. Every human being is subjected to art from the moment of birth until death regardless if they want to or not, the mean-spirited and soulful alike.
Working in both two and three dimensional art since childhood has given me a wide vista to express myself.
