How To Create A Podcast From Audio Tape

How to Create Podcast Media from Audio Tape

The digital revolution has left many people confused about how to handle older analog audio technologies. Some of us still use the trusty old tape deck to record audio but struggle when it comes to transferring that audio into a digital format. This guide aims to help those who need assistance with this process. While it’s not the most efficient way to create podcast media, people should use what they’re comfortable with.

Equipment/Hardware Needed:

  1. Standard Audio Cassette Player: A quality Walkman is highly recommended, as it has the most suitable output port integrated. It’s not advisable to use your home stereo cassette deck, as it might have incompatible RCA outs or a 1/4″ jack if you’re lucky.
  2. A 1/8″ to 1/8″ Mini Plug connector: This cable has two small plug connectors, one on each end. You can purchase these cables at most electronics stores. If you must use your home stereo deck with a 1/4″ jack, you can likely find a 1/4″ to 1/8″ adapter along with the cable.
  3. A good sound card for your computer with a “line in” jack (similar to the audio out jack). If you’ve purchased a computer

Welcome to Audio Devices

You may listen to music and often edit and modify audio clips using audio devices. An audio device is a tool that records, manipulates, and manages sound information. Its functions include controlling aspects of the sound such as tone and volume. The device can be either an input or an output device, handling digital or analog data. Audio input devices include microphones and CD-ROMs, while headphones and speakers are examples of output devices.

Computer Audio Device

A “computer audio device” manages the input and output of sound information as it is transferred to or retrieved from a computer. Such devices can be connected to a computer if they are not already built-in. As an audio card, computer audio devices perform multimedia functions like playing, editing, and composing audios or videos.

  • USB Devices vs. Sound Cards: USB sound devices can be connected to a computer, and they often provide superior sound quality compared to sound cards. Additionally, connecting them is easier as the USB device draws power from the computer, eliminating the need for additional connections.
  • Enhance the Audio Device with a Driver: The use of an audio device is enhanced by a driver, which effectively connects

Setting Benchmarks Toward Videogaming

For many players today, the visuals of a game are often prioritized over gameplay. However, there are still those who value gameplay above all else, or vice versa. The gaming industry is rapidly evolving, and so is the technology behind computer gaming. Each year, developers showcase their new game engines, which have been built from the ground up. They eagerly present their masterpieces to the public through expos and major conferences. They either update their existing engines or incorporate various enhancements such as high-definition textures, real-time physics simulations, and detailed debris and clothing interactions.

Benchmarking is similar to assessing a PC’s performance and features. It is like a student taking a CPA exam, where their ability to think critically and demonstrate expertise in the subject matter is evaluated. There are various benchmarking tools available, including 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 11, just to name a few.

With the recent release of blockbuster video game titles like Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, and Homefront, 2011 has been an exciting year for gaming. One of the highly anticipated titles set to launch on March 22nd is Crysis 2. When Crytek, the company behind the first and second Crysis games, introduced …

Digitizing Those Old Records And Tapes

Everyone who is old enough to have listened to music before CDs has a collection of vinyl records and magnetic tape cassettes stashed somewhere. These records not only have fantastic cover art but also music that still sounds great. Now, there is a concerted effort to develop hardware and software that allows you to convert that analog sound into a digital format and organize it on a CD or an MP3 player.

Firstly, you will need a turntable and/or a cassette player. Since you will be using a computer to convert your old sound into a digital format, you’ll need a cable that connects the turntable or cassette player to your PC or Mac. Cables with the old-style audio jacks on one end and a USB connector on the other end are quite common and can be found in electronic stores like Radio Shack.

Your computer should have a sound card, which has been a standard feature on PCs for some time now. You may also need to add an amplifier of some sort to the setup because the turntable or cassette player alone may not produce enough sound. However, this should not be too difficult, as …
