Walt Disney Pictures released a new action/sci-fi movie titled “TRON Legacy” into theaters, recently. I just got done watching it, and in my opinion, it was really good.
The awesome storyline and fast-paced action scenes kept my full attention the entire time. It never got dull. The film stars: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett, and Michael Sheen.
The movie revolved around character Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) who is a pretty wild guy that likes to pull pranks on his father’s company with no goals of ever taking it over. He also wonders where his father Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) disappeared to when he was a child.
Eventually, Sam gets a strange pager message that leads him to his father’s old arcade building where he discovers a secret project his father was working on. Next thing you know, he activates the portal and away he went into a place called the grid, which is a sort of fantasy world that his father built before it was taken over by a program he created called Clu.
Clu was made to look like Kevin Flynn, but he was definitely not Kevin Flynn. He apparently turned evil and betrayed Kevin. He also wanted to get his hands Kevin’s knowledge disk because it could show him how to get into the real world. Kevin wouldn’t let that happen,so he hid from Clu,causing him to become a prisoner in his own world that he created.
Sam ends up finding his father, and they figure out a way to escape without Clu taking the disk. However, it wasn’t easy as they faced high-action motorcycle attacks, space ship attacks, hand to hand combat, and more. The scenes were very cool and lively. It was a unique film to watch.
The film featured scenes of Jeff Bridges as his younger self because his alter ego Clu looked just like him,but never aged since he was a computer program. Michael Sheen from the popular Twilight Saga movies made an appearance in the movie as the evil Castor/Zuse character who liked to play a lot of tricks on people. TRON Legacy was a very entertaining 3D viewing experience.
