Most scripting languages in web technologies are interpreted, meaning that when you write the code, it is understood by the browser. In contrast, compiled scripting code requires a translator that can convert the code into machine language. It’s important to note that different web technologies have host dependencies, so before choosing a specific web technology, one must determine the services provided by the hosting web server.

Here is a list of various web technologies from which one can choose the appropriate coding technology that best fits the needs of the website:

ASP: Active Server Pages, or ASP, is a web development technology created by Microsoft for developing dynamic websites, applications, and web services. This web hosting technology generates code using VBScript and JavaScript. The best part of this web hosting development is that it can be developed and processed on all computers that are driven and managed by the Windows operating system.

PHP: PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. It is a web technology often chosen as an alternative to ASP on UNIX-based servers. PHP’s ability to be embedded directly within the body of an HTML page makes it a powerful tool for web development.

JSP/JavaScript: JSP web technology is used to create web pages that respond to user actions. The most significant feature of JavaScript scripting code is that it can be used to create dynamic HTML code, and popular browsers support this web development.

Perl: Perl has gained popularity in web technologies due to its wide range of uses in web development. Perl, short for Practical Extraction and Reporting Language, is a scripting language used on UNIX-based servers and is quite similar to C programming language.

CGI: Common Gateway Interface, similar to ASP and PHP, is used for server-side scripting development. CGI applications can be written in C, C++, Java, or Perl and are used to create dynamic and interactive web pages.

VBScript: VBScript is an easy-to-understand scripting language commonly used for server-side scripting, as most browsers do not include a VBScript interpreter.

Visual Basic .NET: Visual Basic .NET is also an easy programming language to learn, using the same syntax as other versions of Visual Basic while taking advantage of namespaces and classes within the .NET Framework.

It’s essential to remember that each programming language and development has its own advantages and limitations. A web developer should use a combination of different technologies to achieve optimal results.
