Wicked – the Musical Mystery

Wicked is one of the most renowned musical mysteries in recent memory. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the story is loosely based on Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The show celebrated its 7th anniversary on October 20, 2010, and is currently the 25th longest-running show in musical theater history and the 17th longest-running Broadway show, with over 2,926 performances to date.
Rather than focusing on the familiar characters of the Munchkins or the Tin Man, Wicked centers on a little green-skinned girl named Elphaba, who eventually becomes the infamous Wicked Witch of the West. Wicked offers a fresh perspective on the concepts of good and evil, portraying Elphaba as a smart, misunderstood, and complex character. The story captivates audiences and offers special seating and discounts on tickets for all theaters hosting the play.
Wicked’s score is notably thematic, resembling a film score more than a conventional musical score.
