I have compiled a list of unique quests that I have completed during my time playing Oblivion. Be aware that there may be spoilers, so read at your own risk. Whenever more specific quests become available, I typically update in another post. Thank you for reading.

A Brush of Death

This quest is one of the most unique experiences I have had in Oblivion. I do not wish to spoil the quest, so I will only provide the starting point. The quest is called “A Brush of Death.” First, visit the city of Cheydinhal and speak to a woman named Tivela Lythandas. To find her home, enter the west gate, turn right, and walk until you reach a large statue. Her apartment is the first one on the right when looking to the left. She will tell you that her husband has disappeared, and the last time she saw him, he was painting in his room. Once you open the door, the quest will begin.

Umbra Sword

The Umbra Sword is one of the best swords in the game. The location of the sword is easy to find, but the woman wielding the sword is more challenging. Head southwest of the Imperial City to a dungeon called Vindasel. The dungeon is not particularly dangerous, containing mostly rats and simple traps to slow your progress. A woman holds the Umbra, and she is quite difficult to defeat. You must initiate the attack as she will not attack you first. Personally, I could not deal any damage to her (level 9), and the only way I could beat her was by lowering the difficulty to easy. She will drop the Umbra Sword and, at my level, Ebony Armor. There is also a rumor that she may drop Glass Armor at lower levels. Obtaining this sword early can save you a lot of time leveling up your character.

Treasure: Umbra Sword, Ebony or Glass Armor

Lifting the Vale

While strolling around the town of Bruma, a man named Tolgan approached me and informed me that Lady Carvain was looking for someone to complete a quest for her. That is how I started the quest, but you can also speak to her directly at the Castle of Bruma to begin the quest. The castle is located on the north side of the town. In the quest “Lifting the Vale,” Lady Carvain seeks the Draconian Madstone. She claims that a group of soldiers went searching for it and never returned. She provides you with a few clues to assist you in your quest. The first clue is a map that leads you to Pale Pass. The second clue is a translation of Adair’s diary. If you read through the diary, it first mentions Dragon Claw Rock. Head north on the eastern road until it dead-ends, and there is Dragon Claw Rock. The next landmark is the sentinel. Head due west, and you will encounter a large statue. The sentinel faces due north; walk in the direction the statue is facing. The legend states that it faces this way to keep an eye on anyone trying to cross the northern border. The Serpent’s Path leads to Pale Pass and then to the Akaviri Fort. On your way to the fort, you will encounter several Pale Pass trolls. These creatures are large and slow, so use a hit-and-run strategy to defeat them. As you make your way through the fort, you will encounter more Pale Pass trolls. You must kill the commander of the Akaviri Fort. After defeating the commander, the door directly behind him will open to reveal the Draconian Madstone.
