Portraits and photographs are so passé! To liven up your fun side, go for caricatures!
A caricature is not just a portrait of a person, but also a way to embellish those characteristic features that define the individual. The facial attributes must be considered when you plan to learn to draw caricatures. Adopting a step-by-step approach makes learning how to draw caricatures easier. Some of the simple steps that you may find quite useful in mastering Music Production - Improve Your Sound - The rise in popularity of work-from-home studios has significantly impacted the music production landscape in recent years, driven by the increasing availability of tools and technology. This growth has led to the emergence of mobile recording rigs, making it possible to record full band performances anywhere. While one might anticipate a wealth of high-quality music,… caricature drawings include:
Choose Your Subject: This is the essential step in caricature drawing and helps you conceptualize a unique idea. You need to identify the specific characteristics and traits or utilize the subject’s perspective to create an engaging and amusing portrait.
Draw The Elements: Elements are the final outcome of any caricature. You must balance the aspects of exaggeration and likeness. A person with a double chin may have a typical bottle gourd-shaped head, but then you need to ensure accurate representation of the eyes, nose, etc. Alternatively, if a person has peculiar eyes or nose, you can emphasize them but keep the rest of the features sufficiently recognizable. You should also draw the most detailed elements when applying your final touches.
Maintain the Proportion: If you want a successful result from your drawings, you must pay attention to this point. Proportions are often exaggerated in caricatures to create a distorted and amusing effect. For example, in a poker club, friends might want to present a caricature to one of the players.
Based on the descriptions provided by the player’s poker club friends, a few of his attributes – such as having a beer belly, stubble, wearing a baseball cap, or having a peculiar expression on his face when winning or losing a game, etc., can be drawn in non-proportional ways. In either case, you need to ensure that the scale of the round or pointed glasses or the smiling curves do not overshadow the rest of the recognizable features of the person being caricatured.
Distortion and Exaggeration: If you make an overstatement of a person’s character and create a hyperbole, it is needed when finalizing your caricature drawing. For example, a bespectacled woman is depicted with large round or pointy glasses to emphasize that feature. Or, a person with crow’s feet around her eyes is shown with exaggerated smiling curves and lines to highlight her ever-happy face. Sometimes, a person’s unique features can be used to distort the image in a playful way. For instance, an avid tennis player’s face or their T-shirt can be drawn to resemble a tennis racket head with netting lines, etc. In any of these cases, however, it is essential that the person is recognizable by their close friends and family; otherwise, the essence of the amusing caricature could easily be lost amid these distortions and exaggerations.
