Apple iPad

A dual-core 1 GHz processor, up to 54 GB of storage, multiple cameras, and a 9.7″ screen represent significant improvements in nearly every aspect of the iPad 2 compared to its previous version. However, it’s not just the iPad 2 itself that makes it an exceptional device, but also the application programmers who are now leveraging the cutting-edge technology to create even better apps than before. Moreover, Apple has included their iMovie and GarageBand in the new iPad, just to name a few of the apps that take full advantage of everything the iPad 2 has to offer.

With the multitude of cameras on the iPad, it was only fitting to have a high-end video editing system. iMovie has been a staple on Apple computers, phones, and tablets for the past decade. It has been completely redesigned and revamped to coincide with the launch of the tablet and the iPhone. It fully supports the multi-touch screen, produces stunning 720p videos, and can be wirelessly uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or any other video-sharing site with just a single tap. The case has also been custom-made to fit perfectly over the tablet, providing protection to the internals while allowing access to all ports and cameras.

This device boasts improved batteries and processing speed, making it one of the first tablets that can truly be considered for gaming. Dead Space, the award-winning first-person shooter from EA, is now fully portable. While gameplay on the original iPad was a bit unreliable, playing it on the iPad 2 is a whole different experience. Rage HD is another first-person shooter that gamers might want to consider picking up. This arcade-style game allows the user to shoot down mutants. To fully immerse themselves in these worlds, players may need a pair of headphones and other accessories.

Apple seems to have an extensive lineup of devices with front-facing cameras. The dual-sided cameras make it the perfect tablet for using Skype and FaceTime apps. With both Wi-Fi and 3G networks, free video calls can be made to anyone, anywhere in the world. The audio and video quality is incredible, even with a screen protector. Although the camera may not be the best, it does shoot video in 1080p HD.

Apple may have been fortunate with their first-generation tablet. There was very little competition, and Apple was able to leverage the momentum it had gained with its MP3 players and phones. However, this tablet is packed with features and impressive specifications to compete with the ever-growing lineup of tablets flooding the market.
