Movie Review – Inglourious Basterds

The film takes place in the picturesque French countryside, where a dairy farmer and his three daughters reside. Their peaceful existence is disrupted when Nazi soldiers, led by the infamous Col. Hans ‘Jew Hunter’ Landa (played brilliantly by Christoph Waltz), arrive with suspicions that the farmer is harboring the Jewish Dreyfus family.

After a tense interrogation, the fearful farmer tearfully reveals the hiding place of the Dreyfus family. The Nazis unleash a hail of bullets onto the hiding spot, but one of the daughters, Shosanna Dreyfus, manages to escape and flees for her life across the countryside. Landa briefly pursues her but ultimately lets her go with a smirk and a smile.

The “Basterds” are introduced as the antithesis to the Nazis, a group of Nazi-scalping soldiers led by the charismatic Lt. Aldo Raine (played by a hilariously funny Brad Pitt). Their mission is to instill terror throughout the Third Reich, scalping their victims and leaving a carved swastika as their signature. They take immense pride and pleasure in their violent acts.

Through a twist of fate, the “Basterds,” an adult Shosanna Dreyfus, and all the major Nazi officers, including Hitler and the feared ‘Jew Hunter,’ converge …

Movie Review – Watchmen

After building up a considerable amount of excitement, I finally watched the film “Watchmen.”

This viewing experience continues my recent trend of watching highly acclaimed films that are adaptations of beloved books, which I have not read. Recently, I indulged in “Twilight,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” and now “Watchmen.”

I have to admit that “Watchmen” was the most disappointing of the three. I’m not sure if it was due to poor filmmaking or the intricate storyline, but I found myself feeling lost for a significant portion of the film.

The story is set in an alternate 1985 where retired superheroes exist. The murder of a fellow vigilante, The Comedian, sets off an investigation led by the relentless Rorschach. Through his relentless pursuit of the truth, Rorschach uncovers information that could change the course of history.

Sounds intriguing, right? That’s what I thought, but I was mistaken.

The director’s cut of the film runs a lengthy 186 minutes, which is simply too long.

It just kept dragging on and on. It reached a point where I began to question whether I had died and this seemingly never-ending film was my personal purgatory.

The film is narrated …

Movie Review For Push

This is a peculiarly enjoyable science fiction Early Science Fiction On The Airwaves - Science Fiction in Radio Some might argue that Science Fiction has existed as long as civilization itself, as people gazed at the stars and wondered, "what if…" Juvenile Serials from the 1930s The first scifi old-time radio shows were primarily adventure serials aimed at young audiences, featuring a scientific theme, most notably Buck Rogers and… film. I had half expected it to be similar to “Jumper” and “Wanted” with James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, and indeed, the plot does become somewhat convoluted.

The film stars the lovely Dakota Fanning (“The Secret Lives of Bees,” and I believe her sister was in “Phoebe in Wonderland”) as Cassie Holmes, and Chris Evans (“Street Kings,” “Fantastic Four,” “4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”) as Nick Gant. The two find themselves in Hong Kong, racing against time to locate another girl, Kira Hudson, portrayed by the beautiful Camilla Belle (you might find something strangely familiar about her eyes; she was, of course, Evolet in “10,000 B.C.”). Their mission is to bring down the secret agency that has been relentlessly pursuing them, wreaking havoc on their lives and …

Bedtime Stories Movie Review

Adam Sandler films are the best choice for family entertainment. He has truly hit the mark with his latest movie, Bedtime Stories. Last week, I screened the movie for my seventh and eighth grade Art Class as an introduction to a Children’s Book Project. Even after watching the movie multiple times, I am still thrilled to share my analysis of Bedtime Stories.

This Adam Sandler film is packed with exciting and engaging scenes that will captivate children without leaving them bored. Moreover, it is G-rated, making it suitable for young ones to enjoy as well. I appreciate the fact that the story revolves around a fantasy theme, with Skeeter Bronson (played by Adam Sandler) aiming to restore his father’s hotel business. When Skeeter’s school principal sister (Courtney Cox) is fired, he steps in as a temporary surrogate parent for his niece and nephew. I must admit, families always love witnessing how the main character adds his own unique twist to traditional bedtime stories.

I would also recommend organizing a family night with some buttered popcorn and gumballs.

Keri Russell portrays the school teacher who initially finds Skeeter annoying and childish. However, they develop a connection towards the …

‘TRON Legacy’ Movie Delivered A Cool Story With Tons Of Action

Walt Disney Pictures recently released a new action/sci-fi movie called “TRON Legacy,” and I just finished watching it. In my opinion, it was really good.

The film had an awesome storyline and fast-paced action scenes that held my full attention throughout. It never became dull. The movie features a talented cast including Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett, and Michael Sheen.

The plot revolves around the character Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious individual who enjoys playing pranks on his father’s company and has no intention of taking it over. He also wonders about the whereabouts of his father, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), who disappeared when Sam was a child.

Eventually, Sam receives a mysterious pager message that leads him to his father’s old arcade building, where he discovers a secret project his father had been working on. Suddenly, he activates a portal and finds himself transported to a place called the grid, a fantasy world built by his father but taken over by a program called Clu.

Clu, who resembles Kevin Flynn but is not him, has turned evil and betrayed Kevin. He seeks to obtain Kevin’s knowledge disk, which holds the key …
