If the movie ‘Back to the Future’ had been a prediction of what 2015 would be like, it seems like the writers were slightly off.
It’s disappointing, though, because I really want a hoverboard and a flying car, but I don’t see that happening in the next four years.
Of course, even if they did invent flying cars, they probably wouldn’t legalize them, but that’s not the point.
We might not have that kind of technology in a few years, but that doesn’t mean we’re not advanced in technology. Just think about how far we’ve come in the last few years.
If you think back to when you were growing up, you might remember a time without the internet The World-wide-web Niche - The global economy has been severely impacted. Millions of people have lost their jobs, many are losing their homes, and retirement portfolios are disappearing at an alarming rate. What happens in the World Wide Web? We often discuss the global financial tsunami, an economic crisis on a scale that rivals the Great Depression of the… or when you used bunny-ear antennas to improve the TV reception. You might even remember using a black-and-white TV with knobs to change the channel.
One thing that stands out in my memory is how high-tech caller ID was. The idea of knowing who was calling before picking up the phone was incredible, and now, we (including myself) won’t answer the phone if we don’t recognize the caller.
Speaking of phones, those devices have advanced tremendously.
Remember when you had to stay in one spot while talking on the phone? If you went too far, the cord would get tangled, resulting in a lost connection. A great solution to this was the cordless phone, which was a significant advancement.
iPhones and Droids are a huge leap forward from that. They are so much more than just phones. Soon, landlines will become obsolete, and pay phones are becoming increasingly difficult to find. When was the last time you went to a video rental store? It has probably been about four or five years for me, but most likely, I will never experience that again.
With services like Netflix and Redbox, there’s no need to visit a video store. Why waste time, gas, and money searching for a movie when you can quickly find and stream it?
I’m excited for what the future of technology holds.
