Shortly after World War II, many new radio stations in urban areas focused primarily on this music, often accompanied by local advertising. In the 1930s, country's status was consolidated in the mainstream pop music landscape. The… version of ‘Born This Way,’ Lady Gaga approached Indian music producers Salim-Sulaiman to give the hit track a Bollywood makeover.

In an interview with MTV News, Sulaiman Merchant, one half of the Indian composing duo, revealed that the task assigned to them was initially challenging due to the intense nature of the track and its immense popularity. He explained that ‘Born This Way’ had all the elements needed for a club banger, so transforming it into a Bollywood listeners’ favorite was quite a difficult task. One of the key changes they made was adding a sitar to the music beat, instantly giving it a more India-friendly feel. They maintained the song’s aggression but flipped the style to a more house music House Music - A Fast Developing Trend inside Music business - House Music: A Synthesized Electronic Dance Genre House is a synthesized electronic dance genre that emerged in the mid-1980s. It originated in Chicago, where it was first produced by DJs in local clubs, drawing inspiration from a variety of music styles such as funk, dance, and disco. The origin of the name "house music" is… genre. Sulaiman also credited entertainment website Desi Hits as the mediator between them and Gaga’s management.

Salim Merchant, the other half of the duo, mentioned that their goal was to give ‘Born This Way’ a universal Indian feel and had the idea of incorporating some Sufi music elements as well. After overcoming initial apprehensions, they quickly made their mark as contributors to Mother Monster’s creation. Salim further added that despite the immense pressure associated with working on the number one song, they have done justice to the track, and it has turned out to be a beautiful rendition in the end. He explained that once they put their hands on the track, everything became magical and fell into place. Salim regards the new ‘Born This Way’ sound as one of “celebration.”

While Lady Gaga is undoubtedly an international phenomenon, she has yet to fully penetrate the Indian market, which has one of the most prominent music industries in the world. According to Sulaiman, Gaga’s low profile in India means that ‘Born This Way’ hadn’t resonated with the audience it deserves. However, their involvement in creating the new Bollywood version signifies that the song is likely to gain broader popularity in the South Asian region. Sulaiman believes that the remix will attract attention in India, and soon all eyes and ears will be focused on Gaga’s music.

So, how did Lady Gaga react to the fresh Indian rendition of ‘Born This Way’? Salim revealed that the pop superstar loved it and gave them a “big, very, very positive reaction” when they presented her with the final product. The duo also expressed their delight that their remix was popular enough to catch Gaga’s attention, as she gears up for the release of her ‘Judas’ music video.
