You don’t need shelf space for discs, and there’s no need to worry about scratching them when taking them in the car. Digital downloads are often priced similarly to physical copies as well.

In fact, it has become so popular that when you purchase many Blu-ray movies, they provide you with a digital copy along with the physical disc for convenience. Once you have the digital copy, you can take it with you anywhere. It can be stored on computers, MP3 players, or even mobile phones. It makes entertainment portable.

There are still people who prefer to have physical copies of everything, and even if they transition to a digital format, they still want the hard copy for their collection or a shelf. I used to feel that way for a long time, but with the hassle of storage and space, digital versions are sufficient for me.
