Trance is an incredibly intricate genre of electronic dance music House Music - A Fast Developing Trend inside Music business - House Music: A Synthesized Electronic Dance Genre House is a synthesized electronic dance genre that emerged in the mid-1980s. It originated in Chicago, where it was first produced by DJs in local clubs, drawing inspiration from a variety of music styles such as funk, dance, and disco. The origin of the name "house music" is… , encompassing various distinct subgenres that are both interconnected and separate from one another. Let’s explore some of the different types of trance here, keeping in mind that there is more to discuss at a later time.

Progressive Trance

This genre is often characterized as a more relaxed form of trance with a wide range of sounds, typically lacking a memorable melodic line. Instead, the focus is on gently evolving sounds layered together to create a strong atmospheric musical ambiance. Progressive trance features a deeper sound that incorporates more tribal techno elements with breaks.

Melodic/Uplifting Trance

Whether you call it melodic trance, uplifting trance, Euro trance, or commercial trance, this music simply makes you feel good. It’s what many people start listening to when they first get into trance. This type of trance usually begins with a percussion and bass lead-in, followed by a sub and main melody. Female vocals are often integrated into the music, giving it a more commercial feel compared to other trance subgenres.

Goa or Psychedelic Trance

These are actually two separate subgenres of trance, but due to their close association with hippie culture, they can often be considered as either one. The primary difference between these trance styles is that Goa incorporates more cultural and Middle Eastern elements, while psy trance (often abbreviated) has a more nostalgic and energetic sound.

Dark and Deep Trance

Trance is not typically associated with darkness, as it is generally an uplifting genre. However, dark and deep trance has a somewhat sadder and more melancholic feel. Dark trance features heavier, darker pads and strings than conventional trance music Trance Music - Free Flowing Electronica - Have you ever found yourself dancing in a club, utterly absorbed in the melody, feeling as if the trance music is flowing through you and guiding your body's movements? This is an experience I've had numerous times during carefree nights at local techno clubs I've often wondered which type of techno generates this unforgettable sensation… (if such a thing exists). Deep trance, on the other hand, offers a more melodic, sublime sound that is less busy.

Acid Trance

Acid trance is regarded as an archaic form of trance and is sometimes referred to as ‘hard trance.’ It originated in London B52 - Wade Crawley is back with a great B52 concert review! If you remember, Wade wrote for us Punk music in the late seventies. Now read his new exclusive article for ManuelMarino.com! The B52’s, London Roundhouse It was on a hot and very sweaty summer night in London’s trendy Camden and a packed audience of all… through underground parties, peaking in the 90s and spreading worldwide. Acid trance music has a signature “acid” sound produced by the Roland TB-303 playing a sequenced melody while adjusting the instrument’s filter cutoff frequency, resonance, envelope modulation, and accent controls.
